Christmas Menu 2018

Make Memories At Maaya This Christmas

When you enjoy an experience, you invariably find yourself wanting more of it. We already regard ourselves as regulars at Maaya; with good reason. On opening two years ago, this stylish restaurant set a benchmark for others to follow. The surroundings have always been fresh, modern and intimate. Now however, the food continually exceeds expectation. It takes a lot for restaurants to consistently serve outstanding cuisine. It takes even more, to continually improve. That is exactly what Maaya are doing.

Christmas is the time to celebrate with friends, family and work colleagues. The party menus on offer are nothing short of outstanding. We were lucky enough to sample some of the delightful food that will be available throughout December. We chose option ‘A’ which is available at just £19.95 per person, representing amazing value. All the dishes are served across the table, so everyone in the party is able to share and taste every dish available.

Tastes as exciting as it looks

The usual Poppadoms and Chutneys are available as an appetizer. However, this simple offering gives you an indication of the quality of the food to follow. The chutneys are so incredibly tasty, you are likely to want more.

Tandoori Chicken Tikka, Lamb Sheekh Kebab, Sprouts and Onion Pakora (v) and Vegetable Samosa (v) (g) are the starters available. This tastes as exciting as it looks. Everything was cooked to perfection and the chicken was superb – so incredibly tender. Every aspect of this dish was superbly executed.

The main courses are Butter Chicken, Chicken Bhuna and Laal Maas. The latter is a spicy lamb dish that gives you a lovely warmth at the back of the throat. The flavours were sublime and the lamb itself simply melted in the mouth. The two chicken dishes offered contrasting textures and flavours. I used the accompanying naan to mop up all the sauce from the Butter Chicken which was the best curry of its type I have ever tried. The beauty of this menu is that if you find yourself wanting more of a particular curry, the restaurant will happily serve you more at no extra cost.

Sides dishes a triumph too….

The main courses were not let down by the accompanying side dishes. The dry roasted potatoes with cumin seeds were a triumph, and extremely moreish, yet the Punjabi Chole (roasted chickpeas in a masala gravy) proved even more popular.

The presentation of these dishes, and the thought that has gone into every element of the party menu actually made us feel like Christmas was here already. The style and warmth of the dishes are in-keeping with the festive season.

In short, superlatives alone do not do the quality of the food justice. Would we recommend Maaya as an option for your Christmas party? You bet! And without a moment’s hesitation.

Please note, pre-booking is required and a minimum of 4 people to share. English or Vegetarian menus are available on request. Add dessert for just £4.

Bookings for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve also available.
